Introduction

Hi my name is Matthew and I live in England. I'm currently working for a solicitors in the City Centre handling all their IT requirements and supporting their users.

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, when I'm not starring into the monitor in front of me. I enjoy listening to the latest dance/trance music when I get the chance and I've become quite a regular movie goer at my local cinema.

I.T. And The Internet

I've been roaming around on the Internet for the last 7 years (I started on dialup back in 1998 when Xstream Network started offering the first dialup internet access in the UK) and have been messing with IT for the last 12-13 years. I'm more of a hardware guru than a software guru as I have spent the last 5 years upgrading and building PC's. I've come from having a Cyrix (urghhh don't ask) to the latest AMD 64 processor in the last 5 years. I've experimented with air cooling and water cooling (although the water cooling leaked!)

Nowadays, money is a bit tighter than it was before, because I made the stupid mistake of buying a 96 thousand pound house. Although I've just recently sold it, so I'll be able to live a life again cause I won't be so broke!

One of the worst mistakes I ever made was joining chat rooms on IRC. I spent a good 3 years on them until I realised I'd made a stupid mistake and decided to leave for good. Although it did have some advantages... i learned to type faster, learned some Linux and amassed quite an MP3 collection for my own personal use! I haven't looked back on leaving chat rooms, it was the best thing I ever did.

Lately I've joined a Distributed Search Engine project and i'm putting all my bandwidth into it to help crawl a few million URL's. If you're interested, go take a look at Majestic 12, it's over on the left in the links column.
